Day1

Wednesday 9th December - Hatta Wadi Hub to Kalba (45 km): cycling over 5.5 hours

Emirates: Dubai, Sharjah

We will meet at Hatta Wadi Hub at the start of our Challenge at 7am where we will begin our briefing and get  acquainted with our guides, leaders and bikes. Those that do not have any bikes can hire from Hatta Wadi Hub with advance notice to ensure bikes are available.

We can test try the Hatta Wadi Hub trails in the morning before we cycle 45 km (approximately 3.5 hours) on quiet roads past Munay and Owhala onto Absolute Adventure Kalba Camp.

Dinner and overnight at Kalba Camp in  dorms

Accommodation – 25 rooms available. Two to a room for social distancing purposes.

Day2

Thursday 10th December: Kalba Camp to Fujairah Adventure Park to Shawka Dam

Emirates: Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah

Kalba to Fujairah Adventure Centre – 30km (optional): 1.5-2hrs
Fujairah Adventure Centre to Shawkah 45km: 6-7 hours
Cycling 45/75km km over 6 -9 hours depending on options

After breakfast at camp we will transfer 30 km (approximately 30 minutes) by vehicle to Fujairah Adventure Park whereupon we will be officially welcomed by Fujairah Adventures.

Here we will ride the pump track and start cycling the 45 km (approximately 6 hours) to Shawka Dam in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah (known fondly as RAK).

The route crosses the main road (accompanied by police escort) then follows mountain tracks towards Al Farfar. There are 2 steep, bumpy trails in the early part of the ride, the highest reaching around 460m above sea level.

Stopping for a packed lunch on route we will enjoy great views across the mountains and over many small farms. We work our way down on mainly wide tracks to Esfai and onto our camp near Shawka Dam.

There are several different options on this route available depending on the group and pace. Extensions for the fast paced group may be possible to extend the length of Day 2.

We are looking into the option to ride to Fujeirah from Kalba instead of the transfer between Kalba Camp and Fujeirah Adventure Park and ride it through (approximately 30km) which would give us 75km for the day.

Dinner and overnight at Camp near Shawka Dam in tents

Two to a tent for social distancing

Day3

Friday 11th December: Shawka to Hatta: cycling 60 km over 6- 7 hours

Emirates: Sharjah, Dubai

After breakfast at camp we start our 60 km cycle on a mainly flat tarmac road for 24km along Sharjah Kalba Road where we detour off at Wadi Al Qor. From there we turn off into the wadi and follow Wadi Al Qor on a dusty and gravelly offroad trail towards Huwaylat. We will have a chance to visit Al Qor Dam along the way for some breathtaking scenery. From here we follow mainly quiet roads to the back of Hatta Fort Hotel and make our way home towards Hatta Wadi Hub where we finish our Challenge.

Notes: This itinerary may change due to changes outside our control. We will endeavour to keep to the planned itinerary, but cannot be held responsible for last changes that might occur. In all such circumstances, the group leader will have the final say.

Nusaned

Nusaned is a humanitarian, community-based and volunteer organization.

Hundreds of Lebanese communities live in housing conditions that are unsafe and unhealthy. Without secure entrance doors, electricity, running water or even in-house bathrooms, the health and livelihood of the most vulnerable, namely children, the elderly, the sick and those with special needs are compromised. Nusaned helps create stable home environments that in turn remove the burdens of hardship, danger, stress, fear and uncertainty for thousands of Lebanese families.

This project is to raise funds to rehabilitate five houses that were affected by the Beirut Blast.
