Malawi | March 25th - April 1st, 2022

A unique volunteer-focused trip where challengers will spend 4 days volunteering with Sparkle Malawi, plus 2 fun-filled excursion days.

Day4

Day 4 – Monday 28th March - Volunteering

This will be the first day that we will get to support the amazing work of Sparkle Malawi.

It is important to know that Sparkle does not operate a ‘voluntourism’ program, instead the volunteer work will be based on the requirements that the charity has at that time and is very much needed to support them in their operations and long-term success.

Some examples of the work our volunteers could be doing:

  • Lessons with the children.
  • Supporting in the medical centre with the height and weight measurements.
  • Supporting in the kitchen to help prepare the meals for the day.
  • Training to some of the staff in areas of teaching, support services and operations.
  • Community visits to understand where the children come from and hear their stories.

Prior to going on the trip, each challenger will speak to Sparkle and they will put together an individual program so that challengers can come fully prepared.

Day5

Day 5 - Tuesday 29th March - Volunteering

Same as Day 4, but with the possible rotation to another Sparkle site or taking on different duties within the same site.

Day6

Day 6 – Wednesday 30th March – Volunteering & Sports Day

The morning will be the same as Day 4 & Day 5, however in the afternoon Sparkle will arrange a Sports Day for the children, with the support of GFG challengers.

Day7

Day 7 - Thursday 31st March - Volunteering

Same as Day 4 & 5, but with the possible rotation to another Sparkle site or taking on different duties within the same site.

After this final day of volunteering and when the children have gone home, Sparkle will arrange a traditional ‘brai’ (BBQ) which is an opportunity for the staff and challengers to celebrate together.
